Sub Committee Minutes. The Minutes of the Organisation Sub Committee were read.

Fancy Leather Workers at Owens. These showed that the ordinary business meetings of the Unions had been held and several special meetings of cardboard box makers in Manchester and Stockport at the latter fifty eight new members were enrolled. All the workers men and women had given in their notices at Owens Leather Works as a protest against a new set of regulations which were considered arbitrary and unfair - the regulations were withdrawn and then the notices were retracted.

Education Association. A letter was read from the Manchester and Salford Education Association asking the Secretary to take part in a discussion on Labour Exchanges and education with a special reference to the employment of young people on leaving school. It was agreed that should the Secretary be unable to attend that Mrs. Cooke and Rev. C. T Campion should be notified.

Workers’ Education Association. A letter was also read from the Workers’ Education Association asking the Council to receive a deputation with a view to bringing the work of the Association more prominently before the Unions. It was agreed on the motion of Mr. Herford and Miss Spence that instead of receiving the deputation at a Council meeting opportunities should be given for the Association to attend the next Secretaries Tea when not only the secretaries but many other members of the Unions would be present.
