Council meeting held Wednesday, June 3rd 1908 3pm

Attendance.

Present Miss Emily Cox (Chair), Miss J. B. Gaskell, Mrs. Bamford Tomlinson, Mrs. Spence, Mrs. Horsfall, Mrs. O. M. Aldridge (Secretary).

Apologies for absence. Apologies for absence submitted from Councillor James Johnston, Miss M. Ashton, Mrs. J. J. Findlay, Miss Crompton.

Minutes. Minutes of the last meeting read and confirmed.

Finance. The Financial Report for the month was submitted by the Secretary owing to absence of the Treasurer.

Drawing Room Meeting at Mrs. Heywood’s. The Chairman reported that the Drawing Room meeting, organized by Mrs. John Dendy, had been held at Mrs. Heywood’s. Mrs Aldridge had given an address on “what can we do to abolish sweating”.

Invitation to Mrs. John Dendy and Mr. Richard Robinson to join Council. It was moved by Miss Cox and seconded by Miss Gaskell that Mrs. John Dendy and Mr. Richard Robinson be invited to join the Council.

Organisation. The Organisation Report showed that the usual business meetings of the Unions had been held.

Open Air Meetings for Rubber Workers. Two open air meetings had been arranged near Macintosh’s Rubber Works, speakers being Councillor Johnston, Miss Cox, Mrs. F. E. Ashwell Cooke, Mrs. F. M. Eddie and the Secretary. Both meetings were well attended and a long list of names and addresses of rubber workers was obtained.
